Tampa Bay Innovation Center Presents TECH Talk
Social Media and the Rays Fan Experience (Location Change for February)

Description: Amy Miller, Director of Marketing for the Tampa Bay Rays, will present “Social Media and the Rays Fan Experience,” discussing how the Rays engage their fans on social media to build excitement and show the personality of the team and players.  She will give examples of tactics including Rays news, in-game highlights, posts after a win and Rays community work.

Miller, a graduate of University of Florida with an MBA from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, has been with the Rays organization for more than five years.  She directs media strategies, creative multi-media advertising strategies and social media.

Quickbooks for Government Contracts

Description: Come learn the basics of direct costs, indirect costs, unallowable costs, and discuss indirect pools such as fringe, overhead and general & administrative (G&A). We will review the rules for a Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliant accounting system based on DCAA’s own form SF1408, such as timekeeping, and tracking by contract.  Learn the terminology, acronyms, and the accounting practices for federal contracting success.  Instructor is Jenny W. Your business plan, provides you a method to take a look inward at yourself and your business, find the STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES, and THREATS, (SWOT), and be able to assess, analyze, and correct the direction of your business BEFORE it becomes a critical threat to your success. At the end of this workshop, you will understand the importance of a business plan, what kind you need, and its major elements. After the workshop, you will be able to start writing a business plan, and make an appointment with a SCORE counselor to guide you through the process.
