Definition of Research Study
Research study at the college is defined as “research” (See Code of Federal Regulations, 45 CFR 46.102 (d)) that involves “human subjects” (See Code of Federal Regulations, 45 CFR 46.102(f)).
Research is defined as "a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge" according to the Code of Federal Regulations, 45 CFR 46.102 (d).
Human subject is defined as an “individual about whom an investigator (whether professional or student) conducting research obtains data through intervention or interaction with the individual or identifiable private information” according to the Code of Federal Regulations, 45 CFR 46.102(f).
