Checklist

Clearwater, Seminole and Tarpon Springs campuses

  1. Request and return to us an unofficial transcript from your current high school including 10th grade FCAT scores; if available.
  2. Complete an SPC student application to receive a student ID number (free of charge).
  3. Take the College Placement Test (CPT). Be sure to take the “Pink” card to the testing site and bring a photo ID. You may test at any of our campuses. Call for times of operation.

  4. Required scores
    Reading and Sentence Skills 83+
    Elementary Algebra 72+
    OR SAT scores 440+ in all sections
    OR ACT scores English 17+, Reading 18+, Math 19+

  5. Complete Applicant Data Form. Attach the CPT test(s) results and the unofficial transcript to the Applicant Data Form.
  6. Return all information to Dr. Jeff Cesta, Director Early College Program - SPC Clearwater Campus. Mailed applications are sent to:

  7. Invitation letters will be mailed after all materials are submitted and evaluated.

Admission Requirements for SPC's Early College Program

  • Must have a 3.0 or higher un-weighted cumulative high school GPA.
  • Be enrolled in grade 11 or 12.
  • Have passing 10th grade FCAT scores.
  • Passing scores on:
    • Computerized Placement Test (CPT) (reading & sentence skills: 83+, elementary algebra: 72+) OR
    • SAT (440+ in all areas) OR
    • ACT (English: 17+, reading: 18+, math : 19+)
College Course Placement
(based on qualifying test scores on ANY of the following tests)
DE = Dual Enrollment – Qualifying scores needed only in the subject area of chosen course
ECP = Early College Program – Qualifying scores needed in all areas
EA = Early Admissions – Qualifying scores needed in all areas
Test Subject Score Permissions based on scores
CPT Reading * 83+ * These scores permit college courses that are reading/writing based such as Composition I and/or courses with the following prefixes: ENC, PSY,
AMH, ECO, HUM, PHI, POS, SYG, SPC, etc.
Sentence Skills * 83+
College Level Math 62+ See Math program director for course selection
41-61 These scores permit college courses that begin with the following prefixes: MAT, MGF, STA, MAC, MTG.
Elementary Algebra 72+ This score permits ONLY MAT 1033 Intermediate Algebra.
SAT ** Critical Reading * 440+ ** SAT or ACT scores may be used IN PLACE OF
CPT scores if available.
Mathematics 440+
ACT ** English * 17+ SAT or ACT math scores permit only MAT 1033 Intermediate Algebra. Any math course beyond MAT 1033 requires an approriate score on the college level math test (see above).
Reading * 18+
Mathematics 19+
