St. Petersburg College Board of Trustees

Evelyn M. Bilirakis, a Palm Harbor resident, is a realtor and a medical technologist. In working with the SPC Foundation as co-chairman of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art’s Capital Campaign Steering Committee, she was instrumental in community development and planning for that project. She is a member of numerous organizations, including the Congressional Club, Republican Wives and the Daughters of Penelope. Her Associate in Arts degree is from the University of Florida and her Medical Technology certificate is from Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital.

Terrence E. Brett is the co-owner of Brett Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. He is the board's current chairman. He is past president of the St. Petersburg College Alumni Association and chairman of the Board of Governors of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. He is chairman of the Arts Center of St. Petersburg Board of Trustees and past chairman of the Leadership St. Pete Planning Committee. Brett graduated in 1977 from the Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta and is also a graduate of Leadership St. Pete. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from Eckerd College and also earned an associate degree from St. Petersburg Junior College.

Kenneth P. Burke of Seminole is a CPA and Clerk of the Court for Pinellas County. He is the board's current vice chairman. A St. Petersburg College graduate, he is twice a past president of the Alumni Association. He is on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Community Colleges and recently concluded a term as chairman of the national Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) organization. Other public service and honors include the Seminole Economic Task Force (chairman), Mr. Seminole, All Children’s Hospital Development Council, Leadership St. Pete, Suncoast Tiger Bay Club (past president), and the Suncoast Legal Administrators Association. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of South Florida.

Deveron M. Gibbons is vice president of Public Affairs with the Amscot Corporation. A St. Petersburg native and current resident, he is a graduate of Northeast High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida in 1995 and his master’s in Public Administration from the University of South Florida in 2006. He has extensive experience in public and governmental affairs as a consultant, political advisor and registered lobbyist for a wide spectrum of clients. His association with SPC began at age 3, when he would accompany his mother to the library on what is now the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus.

W. Richard Johnston is a St. Petersburg CPA. In 2002, he was chosen Trustee of the Year by the Florida Association of Community Colleges and by the Association of Community College Trustees for the southern region. Other community service includes high appointive posts in education: member of the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, the Florida Community College Coordinating Board, the University of South Florida Campus Advisory Board and the USF Presidential Selection Committee. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Akron.
