Locker Room: Volleyball player named to all-state team
Ingrid Mosquera has been named to the Florida Community College Athletic Association All-State Volleyball Team.
Mosquera’s hitting percentage was 39 percent, 31st in the nation; her kills/set was 3.27, 26th in the nation.
After winning its first match at the state tournament Nov. 5, the team lost its next two and was eliminated from the tournament.
In men’s basketball, Tuesday night SPC defeated No. 1 ranked Central Florida Communtiy College 85-76 to improve to 4-1. On Saturday, SPC defeated Redlands Community College 102-72. On Friday, it defeated Webber International University's junior varsity team 105-67.
The team plays again Dec. 1, when it meets Daytona State College at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs gym at 8 p.m.
The SPC women’s team lost Tuesday to Florida State College at Jacksonville, 52-48. On Friday, it lost to Santa Fe College 81-60, then lost the next day to Central Florida Community College 86-71. The team is now 0-5.
