Financial Assistance Services

Helpful Hints

  • Apply early. FAFSA application forms are available Jan. 1 each year.

  • Read instructions carefully. Incomplete applications can delay your financial assistance.

  • Make copies of all tax returns and your application. We may ask you for copies. Do not submit these unless we notify you that we need them.

  • List your name and Student ID number on all documents submitted to the FAS office or My SPC Answer Place (MAP) centers.

  • Respond promptly to all information requests from our office and the federal processor.

  • Keep your address current with St. Petersburg College (log in to MySPC and choose 'Addresses').

  • After you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the federal processor, communicate any questions, concerns or changes in your financial status to a financial assistance staff member. .

  • Follow up. Periodically check the status of your financial assistance file. Required documents and awards may be found on MySPC, our online registration system. Log in to MySPC and choose 'View My Financial Aid'.

  • Plan ahead. If you apply after the priority deadline date for each semester, your financial assistance may not be available by the first day of classes.

  • Purchasing your textbooks is your responsibility. A Book Line of Credit through the campus bookstore is available to students who have been awarded their financial assistance.

  • If you are a transfer student, you will need to have your academic transcripts mailed to the SPC Registrar's Office. Transcripts will be required from each post secondary school previously attended.

  • You must be either degree-seeking or enrolled in an authorized certificate program to be eligible for financial assistance.

IMPORTANT:
If you are interested in receiving scholarships and student financial assistance for the summer term 2009, you must complete a Financial Assistance request form on our web site: http://www.spcollege.edu/central/ssfa/index.asp. It will be available in March 2009.

Your file will not be reviewed for financial assistance - including Federal Stafford Loans - unless you complete this form.

Also, please be aware that you may have already been awarded all of your eligibility for Federal Pell Grants and Federal Stafford Loans if you were enrolled during the fall and spring terms. Please visit the MAP or a financial assistance counselor if you would like to discuss your financial assistance eligibility for the summer term before you make definite plans.
