- Remember to complete your FAFSA for the 2008-2009 school year as soon as possible after January 1, 2008 . Save time and do it online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. Complete your FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1st. Applications submitted before March 1st are given first priority consideration for Federal Supplemental Grants, Federal Work-Study, and Federal Student Incentive Grants, as well as state and institutional assistance.

- Check it out! You may view your Financial Assistance Award letter and also check the status of your financial assistance online. Log into MySPC through the PeopleSoft online student system. Once in PeopleSoft, navigate to:
SA Self Services > Learner Services > Finances > View My Financial Aid
Select the Aid Year you would like to view. The Financial Assistance Awards that you have been awarded for that year will be displayed.

- You can go online to find out who services your Stafford Loan. Go to: http://www.spcollege.edu/Central/ssfa/LoansPage/l_index.htm. Choose Find Out Who Services Your Stafford Loan on the left. You will then need to enter your social security number and birth date. Listed will be the organizations that have reported to hold your loans. You should contact them regarding questions related to deferments, forbearances, and repayment options.

SPC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS |
The scholarships listed below are some of the scholarships offered by the SPC Foundation Office and/or specific Departments at St. Petersburg College. |
SPC & The National Science Foundation (NSF) Awards Program is offering financial awards up to $3,125 to eligible students.
Criteria: Must be a full time SPC student who is a U.S. Citizen, National, or alien admitted as a refugee at the time of application; must be in financial need; must be enrolled, or willing to enroll in an A.A. or A.S. in the areas of computer science, computer technology, pre-engineering, engineering technology, mathematics or information technology security. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.50.

The SPC Facilities Team Scholarship
Description: The Facilities Department of St Petersburg College will award five $1,000 scholarships ($500. fall/$500. spring) in the 2008-2009 academic year to students displaying financial need and academic promise whose home campus is Tarpon Springs Campus.
Criteria: Applicants must be a Florida resident; a U.S. or Naturalized citizen; exhibit financial need; GPA of 2.5 or better. Students must have Tarpon Springs as their home campus.
Deadline: Completed application forms and accompanying documentation must be submitted to: St Petersburg College, Att: Scholarships Office EPI, PO Box 13489, St. Petersburg, FL 33733 by September 2, 2008. |
AES Engineers
Description: Is pleased to be able to continue providing scholarships to high school seniors or college students (regardless of courses being studied) who meet certain criteria.
Criteria: Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.
You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
Deadline: Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the two questions that are posted on our site: http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm
Amount of award: $500.00
Deadline for entry: September 15, 2008.

The Democratic Women’s Club of Upper Pinellas Scholarship
Description: The Democratic Women’s Club of Upper Pinellas Scholarship will award a $1,000 scholarship in the 2008-2009 academic year to a female student 18 yrs or older that is a registered democrat in the state of Florida attending St. Petersburg College.
Criteria: Applicants must be a Florida resident; a U.S. citizen; have a GPA of 2.5 or better; female 18 yrs old or older, registered democrat in the state of Florida; attending St. Petersburg College
Deadline: Completed application forms and accompanying documentation must be submitted by September 15, 2008.

Bailey Family Foundation
Description: Offering a $5,000 award to a current student of St. Petersburg College who demonstrates scholastic achievement and financial need.
Criteria: Applicants must be a U.S. resident enrolled or accepted in St. Petersburg College pursuing an undergraduate degree. Student must demonstrate financial need and maintain 2.5 GPA.
Deadline: Application and pertinent documents will be accepted through
September 15, 2008.

The Sallie Mae 911 Education Fund
Description: Provides scholarships up to $2,500 to the children of those who were killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
Criteria: Applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at accredited institutions.

Southern Scholarship Foundation
Description: Provides financial assistance to students earning a college degree. The foundation provides students with rent-free housing in a cooperative living environment.
Criteria: Must demonstrate financial need by submitting FAFSA, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, submit an essay with character references, and have been accepted by FSU, UF, FAMU, or FGCU. A photograph no larger than 3” x 2 5/16” is required as well as a copy of the university acceptance letter. Interview with staff after application submission is recommended. The Hispanic College Fund- Scholarship Program
Description: Several scholarships are available through the Hispanic College Fund website. There are different deadlines and requirements for each scholarship.

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)
Description: Offers three merit scholarship programs for students transferring to RIT in 2008-2009. They are:
Trustee Scholarship ($7,500 to $9,000 per year)
Transfer Achievement Scholarship ($6,000 per year)
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship ($2,000 per year)
Criteria: The criteria for each of the above scholarships are as follows:
Trustee Scholarships- Student must be admitted to an RIT academic program as a full-time student, will complete an associate degree prior to enrolling at RIT, and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, as computed by RIT, to receive a $7,500 scholarship, or a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher, as computed by RIT, to receive a $9,000 scholarship.
Transfer Achievement Scholarships- Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, as computed by RIT, who have completed over 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours at previous institutions. (This scholarship may not be combined with the Trustee Scholarship)
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships- Student must be a PTK member who completes an associate degree prior to enrolling at RIT. Scholarships are renewable with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. Student must submit proof of membership prior to acceptance.

National Federation of the Blind (NFB)
Description: The NFB offers a broad array of thirty scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars.
Criteria:All applicants for these scholarships must:
- be legally blind, and
- be pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a United States' institution in the 2008 scholastic year, except that one scholarship may be given to a person employed full-time while attending school part-time, and
- participate in the entire NFB national convention and in all scheduled scholarship program activities.
