Early Admission program at St. Petersburg College

High school students who meet specific requirements can enter SPC after the 11th grade without having to pay application, matriculation or laboratory fees. This program requires students to spend their senior year as full-time SPC students, completing their high school requirements while working toward their college degree. Early Admission students no longer attend high school classes. Students in the Early Admission program must complete the program to fulfill their high school requirements. Students who drop out of the Early Admission program do not finish high school.

What are the benefits?

High school students can earn, cost free, as much as a year’s worth of college credits.

Who’s eligible?

Pinellas County students who have:

  • Completed three years of high school with a minimum of 18 credits earned (or 23 credits in a 4x4 high school program).
  • Achieved an acceptable score for college-level courses on the SAT, ACT or SPC Placement Test (including math).

What’s required?

Students in the Early Admission program must:

  • Spend their senior year as full-time SPC students.
  • Hold at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) for all high school work attempted.
  • Obtain the signature of their high school principal on the Early Admission Recommendation form.
  • Complete a minimum of 30 semester hours and maintain at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Obtain transportation to classes.
  • Present a passing score on the FCAT Test

How much does it cost?

There’s no cost for public school students for application, tuition or textbooks.
