The EA/EO officer's role

EA/EO officers:

are advocates for fairness;

listen to and discuss your question or concern;

are impartial;

analyze your situation;

provide you with information that answers your question
or helps you locate someone who can assist you;

explain the college's policies and procedures and how they may affect you;

explain problem-solving channels and develop options;

assist you with pursuing a resolution;

make requests for reconsideration or changes in decisions and advocate
an equitable solution when a complaint has merit; and

follow up with you and others at the college to make sure concerns are resolved.

An EA/EO officer cannot:

replace or circumvent existing channels;

serve as an advocate for the client or the college;

have authority to direct any college office to change a decision;

offer legal advice;

make decisions for you;

have a stake in outcomes; or

impose penalties.
