The RMTC has been recognized by the National Council for Instructional Administrators (1992) and the National Alliance of Business (1996) as an exemplary program for its' innovative instructional programming. In the spring of 1998 the Governor of Michigan, John Engler, identified the RMTC as the model education / industry partnership. He cited specific reference to its' flexible instructional delivery system and its' effectiveness in serving small and mid-size employers training needs.

Dennis has worked in education for the past 19 years, teaching at the both the secondary and post secondary levels before becoming the Department Chair for Trades Technology at Kellogg Community College in 1986 and then named the director of the RMTC in 1990. He has made numerous presentations about the RMTC at conferences throughout the United States. He currently serves as chairperson for the Michigan Educators Apprenticeship and Training Association in addition to holding offices with the Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee and the Michigan School-to-Registered-Apprenticeship Consortium.
