ICS/NIMS CERTIFICATION
Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Command System (NIMS) Certification
A unified approach to handling disasters while coordinating with other agencies.
Security Supervisors are required to be certified in both ICS and NIMS. Contract security officers are encouraged to become certified. Certification can be obtained through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is designed to be self-paced. Use the web address below to link to the education portal for FEMA.

Ad this link to your Favorites because you will need to refer back to it a couple times before you establish your online training account.
Select the link - Your first use of Virtual Campus - This link will explain the procedures and steps for taking the online courses.
Return to - Before You Begin: Click here for Technical Information link and select the link Access Virtual Campus.
Read the USFA welcome message and select OK and Select the Please go through this quick tutorial link, which explains what to expect as you are working through a course.
At the end of the tutorial, select New User. This will take you to the site where you establish your User ID and Pass Word.
Remember to disable your Pop-up Blocker before you begin. You will not be able to proceed with a course until you do.
After you complete these steps you are ready to login and begin taking the ICS 100 and NIMS 700 Intro courses. You should plan to allocate approximately 3 hours for the ICS 100 course and approximately 2 ½ hours for the NIMS 700 course. The courses are divided into 30 to 55 minute modules, which will help you to schedule your time so you can return to the course to complete the remaining modules.
You might find other courses that are of interest to you while you are going through the familiarization process. Most of the courses are open to the public and are free.
