Hanna named executive director of Foundation
Paul Hanna’s long history of raising money would indicate he is well suited for his job as acting director of the SPC Foundation.
He is pictured above with Cristina Coffin, director of External Affairs of Verizon as she presents him with a check for $5,000 for the First Generation Scholarship Fund.
His most recent employer staged the two-day Tampa Bay Festival at Raymond James Stadium in March. He was responsible for raising $2.8-million for the event, which featured Gen. Tommy Franks. Tony Dungy was the event’s honorary chairman.
“The best thing about this job is St. Petersburg College has been around 80 years and a lot of people are very familiar with it,” he said.
He began his banking career in 1971, starting as a trust officer at Dauphin Deposit Bank.
His work experience in Florida includes: President and CEO of SouthTrust Bank Asset Management of Florida (headquartered in St. Petersburg), Executive Vice President (Wealth Management) of SunTrust Bank of Tampa Bay and Senior Vice President of AmSouth Bank of Florida West Coast (Wealth Management).
He has been active on many non-profit boards in the Tampa Bay area for almost 10 years. “A large part of being on those boards is fundraising,” Hanna said. Current non-profit board memberships include:
Ruth Eckerd Hall Foundation Board of Directors, Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) Board of Directors, Tampa Museum of Art Board of Trustees, chairman of LifeLink Legacy Fund Board of Directors and immediate past president and Board of Directors of Tampa Club.
Recent non-profit board memberships include: Past president Florida Bankers Association Trust, Asset Management and Private Banking Division; Board of Community Foundation of Tampa Bay; Board of Florida Orchestra; Board of Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center; Board of Junior Achievement of West Florida, and Board and Past President of American Cancer Society of Greater Tampa.
Hanna has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
He has five daughters ranging in age from 15 to 28 and enjoys golf and traveling in his spare time.
