Position Description
POSITION TITLE:
Associate Provost
DEPARTMENT: Provost
SALARY SCHEDULE:
A&P GRADE: E
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assists the Provost in campus operations, such as staff coordination,
student/academic programs, and support services. Primarily serves as the campus leader for student affairs departments
and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Provost in personnel and other campus
matters.
Develops and manages budgets for areas of supervision.
Assists in efficient utilization of personnel,
facilities and fiscal resources for the campus location.
Works with other personnel in the daily operation of campus as required.
Works closely with MAP, Business Office, Financial
Aid, and other student affairs staff to ensure that exceptional and meaningful
services are provided to all students.
Assists in
planning, developing and coordinating projects and programs concerning
organization, operations and student services/academic functions. Uses the College’s
planning format to develop campus goals for student affairs.
Manages student activities and fosters a climate
for effective student government practice and leadership development.
Coordinates specific programs in conjunction with
district staff such as Student
Activities, Financial Aid, Office of Services
for Students with Disabilities, International Student Services, Career Center,
Testing Center, etc.
Coordinates college-wide initiatives at respective
campuses and sites.
Establishes campus initiatives and projects to
enhance student recruitment,
engagement, and retention.
Recognizes the job related knowledge/ abilities of
student affairs staff and provides program development workshops to strengthen
their expertise and experience.
Troubleshoots student concerns and manage the
student grievance process.
Partners with academic chairs and deans to address
student affairs issues and collaboratively develops goals that will enhance
student learning and success.
Assists in developing and maintaining a learning
climate where each student can attain specific educational goals.
Responsible for designing and maintaining
procedures as needed, with input from
the
Provost and designated staff.
Participates as member of various college
committees.
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree required, Doctoral degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Six (6) years professional administrative
experience in higher education or equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of educational administration and management practices. Knowledge of college curriculum and programs. Ability to interact with students, faculty and staff. Verbal and written communications skills. Ability
to resolve problems and arrive at logical conclusions.
