POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Baccalaureate Program Specialist, College of Education
DEPARTMENT: Baccalaureate Programs & University Partnerships SITE: Various
SALARY SCHEDULE: Administrative & Professional - GRADE: B
BASIC FUNCTION:
Executes counseling functions in the student services area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works closely with deans and Associate Vice President of Baccalaureate Programs & University Partnerships, in establishing and updating admission and graduation rules, policies and procedures.
Maintains an active role in the recruitment and marketing of the program. Participates in information sessions, classroom visits, campus visits and other college site visits.
Supports baccalaureate initiatives in Pasco and Hernando County
Provides academic guidance to potential program admittees and organizes student registration process.
Provides academic guidance to program admittees and monitors student progress to assist with the graduation certification process.
Maintains currency in the counseling profession and demonstrates mature, professional judgments.
Maintains currency in federal and state graduation and certification requirements.
Assists faculty admissions committee with the review and recommendation of contractually admitted student.
Actively monitors students admitted under contract and students who are placed onto academic probation.
Assists with career development initiatives and teacher certification procedures.
Monitors student testing milestones.
Monitors student enrollment, program progression, data and reports through the Peoplesoft System.
Maintains the electronic student advisement site.
Trains and assists faculty advisors with the student advising process.
Works closely with the Director of School Partnerships and Educational Specialist for alternative certification on College of Education initiatives.
Assists in developing annual departmental objectives and contributes to achieving these objectives.
Maintains and fosters articulation activities with high schools, colleges and universities, and academic programs.
Conducts new student orientations.
Conveys accurate and current academic information to students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of and communicates effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Understands and uses available technology, materials, and tools related to the job.
Demonstrates initiative in assuming new assignments to address the needs of students and the department.
Follows federal, state, college, and department guidelines that relate to the job.
Performs related duties as required
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in Counseling or a Master’s degree including 18 graduate hours in Counseling.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years experience in the field related to assigned area.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Computer skills.
