POSITION TITLE: Coordinator,
Simulation

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Coordinator will ensure
maximum and effective use of equipment and resources. The Coordinator will
interact with, and be involved in, the use of technology ranging from low
fidelity standardized patient simulators, anatomic models and task trainers to
extreme high fidelity human simulators and virtual reality programs. The
position is primarily responsible for collaborating in the design, development,
implementation, instruction and evaluation of individual curricula and
programmatic evaluation for clinician and student educational initiatives
through the use of technology based training and assessment.
The Coordinator will also be
responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation,
managing initiatives for the integration of simulation technology into clinical
education, and developing and coordinating simulation training and use the
resources of the SCENE.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Leads the design, development
and delivery (instruction) of clinical simulation initiatives in the College of
Nursing, and collaboratively with Allied Health Programs.
v Collaborates with various
stakeholders to develop course content to meet the needs of the client group.
v Conceptualizes and develops new
courses, scenarios, and initiatives for educating clinicians, health
professionals, students and others.
v Develops strategies to enhance
programs and services.
v Coordinates research projects
that emanate from the SCENE and/or that use the simulation equipment and other
simulation facilities.
v Validates existing courses,
scenarios, and initiatives to ensure that they are educationally appropriate
and effective.
v Meets with stakeholders to
review outcomes and make any necessary adjustments, as appropriate.
v Coordinates the maintenance and
repair of all equipment in the SCENE.
v Operates and programs the human
simulators and other equipment and conducts simulation exercises.
v Maintains appropriate levels of
supplies and other disposable and non-disposable items including the gases
necessary for the operation of the SCENE.
v Promotes the interests of the
SCENE in professional and community forums so as to enhance the image and
understanding of the SCENE.
v Communicates the effectiveness
of Patient Simulation activities, including publications, presentations at
national and international conferences, etc.
v Assesses business opportunities
and areas for growth.
v Participates in simulations and
teaching across the curricula
Educational
Requirements:
The successful candidate must
have a minimum of a Masters degree in Nursing and three (3) years of relevant
experience. Due to the clinical nature of the training programs, strong
consideration will be given to candidates that have a clinical background at
the level of an advanced practice nurse or nurse practitioner with three (3)
years of direct patient care experience. She/he must be well versed in adult
education theory, able to use instructional technology, possess excellent
written and oral communication skills, have effective management skills, and be
able to work a flexible schedule.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skill
Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal
communication skills required. Excellent computer skills. Knowledge
of the grants process and related pertinent resources. Ability to write
proposals. Ability to interact with outside sources and staff. Ability to
manage the grants development process from identification of opportunity to
setting up a new budget in timely manner.
Additional Responsibilities: (as needed)
Additional responsibilities
include coordinating program scheduling, maintaining records of the SCENE’s
utilization, collecting and analyzing data for evaluation and revenue purposes,
making recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and
materials, assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order,
participating in product specific vendor training and maintaining the technical
expertise required to effectively manage the SCENE and facilitate its use, and
representing the SCENE at user group meetings and other relevant organizational
meetings at the local, State and National levels.
