POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Coordinator I, Project Women on the Way

BASIC FUNCTION:
Plans, organizes, implements and coordinates a specialized project which functions in recruitment and retention of students, assisting and advising students, while functioning as a liaison between the faculty, staff, and community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, implements and coordinates a project either as part of a college program and/or under conditions of a program.
Administers all aspects of the specific project including development, submission and maintenance of any grant guidelines which may be involved in the project and/or program goals and objectives.
Responsible for fundraising and soliciting support for program participants.
Develops relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and agencies to support program fundraising goals and objectives.
Coordinates record keeping, reporting evaluation and financial matters of the project.
Tracks, monitors and prepares required reports and records including payroll time sheets, attendance records, disciplinary records and fiscal reports.
Develops and implements policies and procedures for the project.
Maintains or supervises the maintenance of participants’ database to track the student progress.
Participates in the development and implementation of project seminars and workshops for students.
Participates in the recruitment and retention activities of student in the specific project.
Functions as community liaison and makes presentations to promote and explain the objectives of the college project.
Advises students in areas regarding their academic progress, financial assistance procedures, career choices, graduation requirements, and provides assistance in areas related to the goals of the project.
Serves as an information point for community organization, businesses, and local agencies.
Performs research and gathers technical data to improve the project.
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in a field relating to the specific project of assignment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience in a field relating to the project assigned with demonstrated community relations. Teaching experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the programs available at SPC for students. Knowledge of the needs and attitudes of students in the area of assignment. Knowledge of the procedures and practices involved in the specific project area of assignment. Knowledge of the process involved in developing and implementing a grant project. Knowledge of recruitment and retention of students. Ability to work with students and faculty. Ability to relate to students in specialized area of assignment. Ability to develop and implement project goals and objectives. Ability to relate to the participants of the particular project and provide advice concerning their progress in the project. Ability to conduct participant workshops and seminars in identified subject areas. Ability to make presentations to local business representatives, agencies, and community agencies. Supervisory skills. Written and verbal communications skills. Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office.
