POSITION DESCRIPTION

BASIC FUNCTION:
· Provides curriculum development consulting, training, skill-building, design and support services including using “best-fit” technology to improve instruction and strengthen curriculum. Responsible for identifying and testing new techniques and technologies that enhance learning outcomes. Identifies trends, gathers and analyzes data, recommends standards, and implements curriculum technology development plans. Uses emerging educational techniques and technologies to develop alternative assessment strategies to integrate into course development. Provides a leadership role in a team environment to advance technology-enhanced curriculum development, courses and instructional programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Influences and specializes in curriculum development using technology to design, develop, and implement training and other educational programs.
v Designs, develops, implements and/or coordinates the development of computerized media such as instructional web pages and online courses.
v Implements and maintains instructional technology systems used for departmental use.
v Mentors curriculum designers and project coordinators in the design and development of technology-enhanced courses, including blended and online courses.
v Evaluates current instructional technologies and disseminates appropriate recommendations to faculty.
v Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required in instructional technology, adult education, curriculum planning or related field. Master’s preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Two years experience in instructional design, computer-based training, course development, instruction or related areas. Classroom teaching experience required. Background in multimedia production, distance learning technologies and web design is preferred. Project management skills and experience required. Experience with federal contracts preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· Understand how to use technology to promote a learning organization. Build and deliver multimedia projects. Use the instructional design process and develop computer-based training. Ability to design, develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate instructional technology systems. Ability to work in a team environment with faculty and staff in developing projects while meeting established deadlines. Ability to write concisely. Skills in analyzing information from various media and incorporating the data into presentations. Ability to create course storyboards and outlines, objectives and requirements for training and instruction. Excellent consulting, coaching and client skills. Familiarity with networking protocols and multiple hardware platforms and related software products.
