POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Director, Network Systems and Television Operations
DEPARTMENT: Information Systems SITE: SE

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Directs and coordinates the
design, implementation, maintenance and ongoing evolution of the collegewide
voice, video and data network, including routers, switches, hubs and addressing
plan used for LAN, WAN, and ATM-based communications. Supervises the operations,
scheduling and personnel providing computer services and technology call
center support to college departments. Also directs the day-to-day operations,
programming and delivery of the college-wide instructional television system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering,
Computer Science, or related discipline with specialization in data communications
and telecommunications. Graduate level work in related discipline required.
Certified training in vendor-specific networking concepts and operations
highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) YEARS EXPERIENCE IN DEALING WITH Data Communications networks and computer center operations. Experience must include actual work with designing and implementing LAN and WAN network components, working in computer center operations, and help desk management function.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of Data Communications concepts. Knowledge of T1 and fiber optics transmission concepts required. Familiarity with the following network maintenance tools, protocols and operating systems: sniffer, monitoring devices, Unisys MCP, NT, TCP/IP, AppleTalk, LocalTalk, UNISYS POLL/SELECT, Ethernet. Skills in functional and systems analysis. Excellent supervisory skills.
