POSITION TITLE: Director, Workforce and Continuing Education

DEPARTMENT: Workforce and Continuing Education     SITE: EPI

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P                                          GRADE: D                             

BASIC FUNCTION:

College-wide responsibility for the development, implementation, and effective operation of all non-credit, Associate of Science (AS), and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs in order to meet the workforce and training needs of regional business and industry and to meet the Colleges goals for enrollment, graduation, and placement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Identifies the workforce training needs of regional business and industry and develops programs to improve the quality of the workforce and enhance productivity and competitiveness of the region.

·       Establishes annual program goals for non-credit, AAS, and AS degree programs to ensure that the programs are meeting the workforce training needs of regional business and industry and to ensure that the programs are successful in meeting the College’s enrollment, graduation, and placement metrics.

·       Serves as the College liaison and participates with workforce and vocational organizations including the regional workforce board, the statewide vocational committees, and the k12 vocational organizations in the development of programs and partnerships.  

·       Conducts an annual program review for non-credit, AAS, and AS programs that evaluates programs on their success in meeting the needs of local business and industry and the College’s goals for enrollment, graduation, and placement. Makes recommendations for discontinuing programs which are no longer in demand.

·       Determines the appropriate equipment purchases required for non-credit, AS, and AAS programs to maintain alignment with the needs of business and industry, and seeks funding or develops partnerships in order to make this equipment available to train students.

·       Identifies and, where appropriate, prepares applications for grants for workforce programs, and in cooperation with the College’s grants department, coordinates the preparation and submission of proposals.

·       Ensures appropriate enrollment growth in AAS, and AS programs through the development and implementation of an effective marketing campaign.

·       Attends the College’s program advisory meetings and ensures that programs implement Advisory Committee recommendations where appropriate; maintains appropriate membership on advisory committees; reviews advisory committee recommendations.

·       Cooperates with the office of Institutional Research, the office of Institutional Effectiveness, the Perkins grant administrators, and the program administrators for non-credit, AAS, and AS programs to ensure that required state reports are accurate and submitted in a timely fashion.

·       Maintains knowledge of the current best practices and innovations in the area of workforce education through journals, online periodicals, and attendance at conferences.

·       Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience in higher education, adult education, corporate training or related experience required.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of the current best practices and innovations in the area of workforce education through journals, online periodicals and attendance at conferences/seminars. Ability to make presentations to groups and organizations. Verbal and written communication skills. Possession of interpersonal skills. Possession of entrepreneurial abilities and skills in order to meet business and industry training needs.
