POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Interior Designer

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Planning & Institutional Services SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: A & P - GRADE: A

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide professional services in design, space-planning, and appropriate furniture and finish selection for college-wide construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan the layout of interior spaces for all construction projects and coordinate with Provost, program directors, faculty and staff.
  • Prepare drawings and specifications for bidding of finishes, materials, furniture and cabinetry, and make selections for the same.
  • Provide cost estimates for a variety of projects involving all types of interior work.
  • Coordinate with outside architects on all large construction projects.
  • Review plans and specifications for major construction projects to ensure that compliance with college interior standards.
  • Review and approve shop drawings and submittals for interior spaces
  • Inspect construction projects and coordinate with the general contractor on all interior finishes..
  • Develop and maintain equipment lists and budgets for construction projects.
  • Oversee delivery and set-up of furniture and equipment.
  • Assist in the development of educational specifications (EDSPECS).
  • Maintain drawing files, product information, and finish sample library.
  • Plan, order and update all interior signage college-wide.
  • Assist with planning of in-house construction projects as required.
  • Coordinate all major relocations of offices or programs within the college.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must meet the college degree and experience requirements as outlined in F.S. 461, Part I, and be a Registered Interior Designer in the State of Florida.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience in interior design, including AutoCAD usage. 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be knowledgeable about The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).  Ability to write furniture/equipment specifications. Skilled in blueprint reading.
