BASIC FUNCTION:
The laboratory manager, under the direction of
the dean, will assist the college's orthotic and prosthetic faculty in
developing, implementing and executing the laboratory portion of the orthotic
and prosthetic educational curriculum. Lab manger will be responsible for
maintaining supplies and equipment for the orthotic and prosthetic laboratories.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the faculty in the development,
implementation and instruction of orthotic and prosthetic labs.
- Maintain open laboratory hours for students
to work.
- Assist the students in the development of
effective fabrication skills and safe laboratory habits.
- Develop, implement and oversee laboratory
operation and compliance with safety procedures.
- Develop, Implement and oversee checkout and
check-in procedures for each laboratory session for use of laboratory equipment
and materials for laboratory classes.
- Management of the procurement process.
Including maintaining budget records and purchase orders, preparing purchase
orders and receiving reports when ordering materials, etc.
- Maintains records of supplies, materials and
equipment. Control, coordinates and maintains laboratory and media equipment to
meet instructional requirements. Maintain keys for lockers, Maintains inventory
of chemicals, equipment, etc. Prepares reports, statistics and other information
relating to the operation of the laboratory.
- Works with facilities to :
- Develop, implement and oversee scheduled
routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and tools.
- Develop, implement and oversee daily
organization and cleaning of the laboratory.
- Generate reports related to laboratory
operations and assessments as needed.
- Assist adjunct instructors in program needs
and learning materials.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
ABC Registered Technician Prosthetic Orthotic or
Certified Prosthetic Orthotist or Licensed Prosthetic Orthotist.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience in the field of O&P. Three (3)
years supervisory experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of orthotic fabrication processes. Knowledge of
prosthetic fabrication processes. Knowledge of CAD/CAM fabrication processes.
Knowledge of Windows Office software.
