POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Vice President, Facilities Services

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Planning and Institutional Services SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: G

BASIC FUNCTION:

Plans, organizes, staffs and directs all phases of the operations of the physical plant for all college sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, supervises and implements a collegewide plan for the maintenance and care of all facilities, grounds and utility systems collegewide.

  • Directs and implements training programs for Facilities Services staff.

  • Develops and implements a preventative maintenance program.

  • Prepares and manages a department budget.

  • Issues contracts for rental of college facilities.

  • Establishes effective on-campus communications with college personnel.

  • Recommends hiring, trains, and evaluates personnel under immediate supervision.

  • Works with contractor activities on campus sites.

  •  Assists Director, Facilities Planning & Institutional Services as assigned.

  • Prepares reports and communications relating to physical plant duties.

  • Responsible for establishing procedures as needed.

  • Performs related duties as required.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree, plus specialized courses in mechanical engineering.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) years experience in HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems. Supervisory experience in facilities maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of the operations of college facilities. Knowledge of the budgeting process. Ability to plan and supervise the work of a large facilities support staff. Interpersonal skills. Knowledge of ADA and energy management concepts. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with college administrators and staff. Computer skills.
