POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Education Specialist – IMPACT
DEPARTMENT: College of Education SITE: Various

BASIC FUNCTION:
Serves
in an advisory/counseling capacity for IMPACT (alternative certification)
students in the
College of
Education
and is responsible for communicating with IMPACT students so they successfully
complete all program requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicates admission requirements to prospective students and to other SPC
advisors.

Reviews and tracks applications; registers IMPACT students and keeps Dean
informed of enrollment data.

Works with Staff Assistant to maintain IMPACT student files.

Works with Enrollment Management and others within the COE to recruit IMPACT
students.

Tracks all pre-assessment results and Florida Teacher Certification
Examination results.

Communicates regularly with IMPACT students once they are admitted, including
evening meetings at each campus.

Coordinates IMPACT students’ professional development plans with COE
supervisors and faculty teaching IMPACT courses.

Works closely with the Office of School Partnerships for placements of IMPACT
students in area schools.

Develops contracts for IMPACT students based on similar contracts already
developed by the Baccalaureate Specialist and the Director of School
Partnerships for COE undergraduate students.

Monitors IMPACT web site and works with Director of Curriculum and Student
Success to propose revisions.

Models IMPACT orientations after already existing COE orientations for
undergraduate students.

Assists the Director of Curriculum and Student Success with grant applications
and required reports.

Facilitates registration of IMPACT students.

Monitors degree codes.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2)
years experience in the field related to assigned area
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Written and oral
communication skills. Organizational and interpersonal skills. Computer skills.
Knowledge of student system and database preferred
