RETIREMENT BENEFIT SUMMARY

Retiree Insurance Elections

Health/Dental/Vision
As a retiree of SPC, you are entitled to continue participation in the college's group health, dental, and vision insurance programs in which you are currently enrolled.

Medicare is the social insurance program, part of the Social Security Act of 1965, intended to provide financial protection against the cost of hospital and physician care for people age 65 and over. Medicare becomes primary once you are no longer employed. If you are eligible and have not enrolled in Medicare, please call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 for information.

Life Insurance
You may also purchase $5,000 of term life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance through Aetna Life Insurance Co.  The life insurance premiums are based on age.

SPC Cancer/Dread Disease Medical Reimbursement
You and your eligible dependents if covered under SPC's Aetna health insurance plan, may also continue to receive coverage on the Cancer/Dread Disease Medical Reimbursement policy and you will be responsible for the premium of either $58.50 or $110 annually.  You will be billed annually, if you indicate your desire continued coverage.

Also, a permanent SPC retiree photo identification card is available to you. You may have this card processed at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, Allstate, Epicenter and Seminole locations. This card entitles you to free admission to college events (except The Palladium Theater), a 10% discount at the campus bookstores, and may also be used as an SPC library card.
