POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Custodian II

BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs advanced manual laboring duties
relating to the cleaning, upkeep and custodial maintenance of college buildings,
sites, offices, rooms, laboratories and premises. Duties include functioning
as lead worker of custodians at a college site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties found in the Custodian
I classification.

Functions as a lead worker of custodians
at a college site.

Assists in training new custodial employees
and recommending solutions to personnel disciplinary and performance problems
of custodians at the location.

Assists in establishing work schedules
and assigning work areas.

Functions as back-up for building security
checks and shut down.

Cleans, maintains and sanitizes restrooms
and other facilities.

Sweeps, mops, waxes floors, stairways,
offices, classrooms, laboratories and other assigned areas.

Performs vacuuming and upkeep of carpeted
areas, including shampooing and extracting.

Scrubs and polishes fixtures, windows,
mirrors and other areas and equipment.

Cleans chalkboards and classrooms in accordance
with established rules.

Maintains and replenishes supplies at
the college facilities.

Follows cleaning schedule as established
by the supervisor or crew leader.

Responsible for the safe and proper use
of equipment and materials.

Replaces light bulbs and tubes.
-
Maintains restroom facilities, equipment
and supplies.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
None required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
One (1) year experience as a custodian.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of custodial methods and
procedures.
Knowledge of chemicals and safety procedures used in custodial work. Ability
to climb ladders and lift equipment. Ability to pass a post qualification
physical examination. Skill in basic reading comprehension. Knowledge of
the Right-To Know Law. Knowledge of bloodborne pathogens. Custodian Certification.
