POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:     Facilities Planning & Project Specialist

DEPARTMENT:       Facilities Planning & Institutional Services                      SITE:            Epi Services

SALARY SCHEDULE: Senior Career Staff                                                       GRADE:        7

BASIC FUNCTION:

Plans, organizes, implements and coordinates specialized college projects or programs related to Facilities Planning and activities. Develops Facilities programs assigned to this classification which may be short-term assignments or with determined completion and implementation date and where specific skills and experience of the incumbent are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Plans, develops and implements documents related to education plant surveys, spot surveys, Capital Improvement Program, Project Priority List, and related DOE Facilities specific reporting documentation.

·         Develops facilities planning reports and documents for use by the Vice President, President’s Cabinet and others.

·         Coordinates and maintains documents for applications for operating costs for new facilities.

·         Coordinates the planning and acts as liaison with architects and users to plan and prepare project program, initial construction budget and prepares all related reporting documentation.

·         Directs special programs/projects applicable to Vice President's area of responsibility.

·         Administers all aspects of the specific area of assignment, including development, submission and maintenance of records involved in the specialized projects. 

·         Tracks, monitors and prepares reports which may be part of specialized projects and DOE reports.

·         Develops and implements policies and procedures for specialized projects.

·         Maintains or supervises the maintenance of database to track specialized projects.

·         Supervises work of staff as assigned and those who assist in the various aspects of projects.

·         Participates in the recruitment and retention activities of participants in the specific project.

·         Performs research and gathers technical data in the development of specialized programs and reports.

·         Assists the Vice President in specialized projects, meetings, presentations and related research.

·         Implements actions internally within the college and externally with public contacts and vendors in planning and implementing specialized projects.

·         Directs special programs/projects applicable to Vice President's area of responsibility.

·         Performs related duties as required.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Associate's degree or completion of two (2) years of college with courses related to the job responsibilities.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Four (4) years experience in a field relating to the project assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of the procedures and practices involved in the specific project area of assignment. Knowledge of the process involved in developing and implementing a specialized project. Ability to work with staff, students and faculty. Ability to develop and implement project goals and objectives. Ability to relate to the participants of the particular project and provide advice concerning their progress in the project. Ability to orient participants in the project and subjects. Ability to make presentations to the business representatives and to community. Supervisory skills. Written and verbal communications skills. Computer Skills.
