BASIC FUNCTION:
Supervises and instructs
students in a complex and specialized learning laboratory or other similar
instructional location, under the supervision of a professional faculty member
or other staff person.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Assists
professional teaching faculty in a learning laboratory and serves as a resource
person to tutor students in the skills being taught.
v
Instructs
students enrolled in courses requiring laboratory classes.
v
Plans
and administers lessons and materials for laboratory classes and non-transfer
classes.
v
Coordinates
use of laboratory equipment and materials. Maintains laboratory equipment.
v
Assists
the professional faculty member in laboratory administration and activities.
v
Maintains
records of student attendance and progress. Maintains records of supplies,
materials and equipment.
v
Supervises
laboratory assistants and student assistants. May be required to schedule
tutors.
v
Administers
and grades tests, material prepared and assignments.
v
Creates
materials and plans for classes as required of the specific area.
v
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) years experience
teaching or tutoring students.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Competence in the subject
area assigned. Knowledge of the methods appropriate for instruction in the
subject area assigned. Knowledge of sentence structure and word usage. Skill in
reading comprehension. Communications skills. Ability to operate a computer.
Ability to interact well with students and faculty. Ability to teach the
subject area of assignment.
