POSITION TITLE:                Mail & Receiving Coordinator

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs lead work in the receipt and preparation of college mail, operation of mailing equipment and in the receipt, inspection and distribution of purchased items and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

v      Functions as a lead worker in the mail and receiving unit of the college.

v      Inspects, categorizes, verifies, certifies and processes college mail at a central location.

v      Determines best way to process mail and implements new methods and procedures.

v      Processes mail in accordance with postal regulations and college policy.

v      Responsible for the receipt, inspection and distribution of all college purchased items and materials.

v      Coordinates the college courier service.

v      Notifies departments of postal regulations and changes in procedures.

v      Responsible for processing mail receiving in accordance with current PC software procedures.

v      Verifies that all postal equipment and processors are used correctly by staff.

v      Responsible for maintaining a warehouse of supplies and equipment relating to the mail processing.

v      Prepares various reports, maintains records files and logs relating to the mail processing.

v      Charges mail services to departments where applicable.

v      Performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS:

Four (4) years experience in mail processing and/or shipping and receiving.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIRMENTS:

Knowledge of mail processing procedures and practices. Knowledge of postal regulations. Knowledge of computerized mail processing systems. Knowledge of word usage. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to operate a personal computer and calculator. Communications skills. Ability to function as a lead worker. Ability to create and maintain reports and statistical records. Ability to deal with employees, supervisors and outside agencies and the public.
