POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Parking Attendant

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Services SITE: Downtown Center

SALARY SCHEDULE: Career - GRADE: 1

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs manual laboring duties relating to the parking garage at the Downtown Center.  This includes attending to the gate to the garage, cleaning around the area, and keeping the Security Department and supervisor appraised of issues affecting security at the site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans, maintains and sanitizes the gate area of the garage.
• Operates the gate to allow entrance to the garage.
• Secures tickets or monies taken for parking fare.
• Notifies Security Supervisor for the Downtown Center if suspect activities occur.
• Gives directions to students for parking and classroom information. .
• Responsible for the safe and proper use of equipment and materials.
• Replaces light bulbs and light tubes as deemed necessary.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Education or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Six months attendant or laboring experience.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

General knowledge of parking garages and procedures. General knowledge of safety procedures. Ability to learn cleaning methods and operations required to keep gate area clean. Skill in basic reading comprehension. Ability to communicate with people and give directions.  Ability to identify security issues.
