Students Services Representative

SALARY SCHEDULE: Senior Career GRADE: 7- Exempt
BASIC
FUNCTION:
Coordinates
college wide International student activities and support services. Reports directly to the Director of International Programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Coordinates
international student activities in conjunction with campus student activities
coordinators to foster a college-wide international community.
·
Assists
with development of support services for international students.
·
Organizes
orientation/welcome week; facilitates workshops and seminars that foster
retention and student success.
·
Coordinates
activities and field trips for the international student populations that
encourage adaptation and understanding of American culture through community
interaction.
·
Orients
and instructs international students as to college policy and procedures.
·
Develops
and maintains a mentoring program for incoming international students.
·
Assists
with the maintenance and updating of the International Student Manual and web
site.
·
Attends
ESL and International meetings at the college as needed to be consistent on
each campus.
·
Maintains
an SPC e- newsletter for International students.
·
Assists
with recruitment of international students
·
Assists
with procedural and technological tasks as assigned.
·
Keeps
abreast of new INS regulations and procedures and shares information with
college officials, international students, faculty and staff.
·
Coordinates
SEVIS reporting and verifies information is accurate
·
Coordinates
scanning of International student records for various purposes: application,
change of status, visas, etc.
·
Performs
all duties of the International Student Officers
·
Assists Director International Programs for development and
maintenance of procedures, processes, forms, and related materials.
·
Manages budget of International Student Services department.
·
Controls equipment/materials utilized within the International student
activities and support program.
·
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
institution, preferably in a field compatible with government and higher
education, or international relations; or the equivalent in related experience.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Public
and/or international relations or related experience working within the
international community. Experience working with college administrators. Experience
working with those from a variety of professional, political and cultural
backgrounds. Three (3) years experience in event planning and Bilingual
preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge
of academic departments and programs in an institution of higher education. Knowledge of the
techniques used in recruitment and retention of international students. Ability to relate to students in the specialized area of
assignment. Computer skills. Ability
to work with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to
deal effectively with students, faculty and staff. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects. Verbal and written communications skills. Knowledge
of micro-computer applications in management.
