POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE: Security and Ancillary Services Specialist

 

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Services         SITE: Downtown Center

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: Career                 GRADE: 4

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Under the direction of the Director, Security, Risk Management & Safety Operations coordinates security, parking garage operations and classroom facilities for the Downtown Center in addition to serving as the liaison to the Florida International Museum as it relates to security functions for the museum.  This position will be accountable for all money collected through the parking garage revenues, scheduling parking attendants, coordinating specific levels of security required for special events and will be required to work on-call as needed with a variable schedule to include evenings and weekends when necessary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.  Must posses a minimum of a "D" Security Officer License from the State of Florida or obtain within six (6) months of hire.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Five (5) years of security operations experience in commercial or institutional facilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Skill in reading comprehension.  Skill in the use of and knowledge of operating security systems to include CCTV cameras. Knowledge of sentence structure and word usage. Ability to communicate effectively with students, visitors, employees, and the public.  Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to effectively utilize labor and material resources. Knowledge of security inspections and reports.  Able to recognize deficiencies and to take appropriate corrective actions.  Effective written and verbal communications skills. revised: 09/2006
