POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE: Senior Security Supervisor

 

DEPARTMENT: Campus Security SITE: Various

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: CareerGRADE 4

 

BASIC FUNCTION:  Under general direction of the Director; Security, Risk Management and Safety Operations supervises the security and safety efforts of the Director by coordinating security services and efforts at sites under their responsibility, ensure security at and safety for museum, museum personnel and other partners.  May be responsible for supervising numerous personnel at numerous sites.  May be responsible for collecting and depositing monies received from events and activities on a site under their responsibility.  May coordinate training for the Security personnel.   May review incident reports generated and submitted by security officers from all college sites.  Responsible for overseeing security operations on all college campuses assigned to them and under their responsibility.  May direct and implement security awareness and crime reduction programs at all campus locations assigned to their authority.  Assist the Director in providing a safe and secure environment for Saint Petersburg College students, faculty, and staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: (not all inclusive):           

  • Coordinates, leads, plans and executes the security and parking operations at their assigned sites.
  • Ensures officers are properly trained by establishing a training program for college security staff.
  • Oversees security personnel at all assigned college sites and ensures all assigned duties are effectively and professionally performed.
  • Develop and maintain programs aimed at reducing campus crime and losses; creates procedures that secure personal safety for the students, faculty, and staff.
  • Reviews all initial incident, crime and accident reports. Ensures that follow-up investigations are conducted as needed.    Ensures all reports are accurate and legible.  Takes corrective action as needed.
  • May oversee campus and college-wide security programs.  
  • Assists the Director; Security, Risk Management and Safety Operations in preparing the annual departmental budget in order to maintain the efficient and effective operation of security services.
  • Help develop and maintain proper staffing levels as governed by the budget and special activities by providing direct feedback to the Director.
  • Coordinates with facilities, Provosts and Associate Provosts on any activities that will take place after regular business hours.
  • Coordinates security needs in the construction project planning.
  • Conducts evaluations of security officers assigned to their respective campus sites.
  • Reviews weekly work schedules including authorization of all vacations, sick leave, and personal requests for leave on a consistent basis.
  • Provides the Director with accurate information concerning all officer related issues including training needs, suggested training topics and classes\
  • Assists the Director in ensuring college compliance with the Clery Act.
  • Monitors parking operations on their site(s)

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited agent.  Some college preferred.  Security and/or military experience may be substituted.


 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Should possess six (6) years of security experience with significant managerial experience.  Security, military, and/or law enforcement experience will be considered.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must possess an in-depth knowledge of security procedures and security "best practices".  Intimate knowledge and familiarity with college policy and procedures.  Have the ability to manage and assist the Director in supervising all security staff.  Effective clerical skills.  Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population including students, staff, faculty, administrative staff as well as the general public.  Should have Multi-site supervisory experience. Experience with electronic security and surveillance systems to include CCTV and centralized dispatch center.  Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Valid Florida driver’s license [required].
