POSITION TITLE: Associate/Assistant Professor, Orthotics and Prosthetics
DEPARTMENT:
SALARY SCHEDULE: Instructional 12 Month GRADE: N/A
BASIC FUNCTION:
A faculty member at SPC has
the primary function of instruction, coaching, and student development.
Secondary functions include assisting the College in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the College and continuing professional development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaches
undergraduate upper division level courses within the
·
Able
to foster student motivation, learning and achievement through adult learning
principles
·
Designs,
analyzes, and improves the O&P curriculum
·
Demonstrates
both the art and science of teaching
·
Maintains
appropriate professional liaisons with local, state and national governmental
and professional agencies
·
Establishes
positive working relationships with local healthcare industry
·
Assists
with and maintains O&P education for accreditation standards
· Develops on-line courses (Angel instructional platform preferred)
· Promotes academic excellence and scholarships
· Serves on various college committees
· Works flexible hours including evening and weekends
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate or PhD candidate that has an approved proposal and is expecting to complete his/her PhD within one year; in Education, a health related field, or in teaching field or Masters Degree; in Orthotics and/or Prosthetics or related field. Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Orthotics and/or Prosthetics, or Bachelor’s degree in related area and certification in Orthotics and/or Prosthetics required with ABC certification or Florida Licensure
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
5 years of clinical
practice experience
Experience
in college/university teaching with recent practices in area of teaching
responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
A distinguished record of excellence in professional or teaching career. A clear understanding of best practices in teaching orthotics and prosthetics. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff and community constituents throughout the health care industry. Strong written, oral communication, and computer skills required.
