POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:  Information Services Librarian – Community Services and Special Programs

DEPARTMENT: Academic & Student Affairs SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: Instructional - GRADE: N/A

BASIC FUNCTION:

Coordinate youth, young adult and adult services and programs for the college-city partnership library and provide reference and instructional services to diverse patron population.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee all library programming for youth, young adults, and adults.

Support the joint-use library mission by providing service to a diverse patron population that includes community and college patrons.

Provide instruction and develop instructional materials.

 Supervisory or Support Duty:

 Oversee support staff in youth services area.

 Administrative Duty

 Participate in collection development activities.

Participate in college-wide strategic planning.

 Oversee staffing of service points in the community use area.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Two years or more progressive experience in professional library work, including some supervisory experience; demonstrated success in providing a broad range of library programs, reference, and instruction services. 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Strong customer service focus. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment.   Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to develop and deliver high quality library instruction; knowledge of print, electronic and Internet resources; computer competency. Preferred:  web page development, knowledge of social networking tools including chatting, blogs, audio/video file sharing.
