Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Assistant/Associate Professor, Information Technology
DEPARTMENT: Baccalaureate in Technology Management SITE: Various
SALARY SCHEDULE: Instructional 12 Month GRADE: N/A
BASIC FUNCTION:
A faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the College in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the College and continuing professional development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
:Provide counseling to students for advising, registration and curriculum support.
Teaches undergraduate level courses in the Technology Management Program.
Develops innovative methods, adopts interactive teaching/instructional methods and collaborative learning experience to deliver quality education.
Inspires students and develops them as future professionals
Motivates students encourages learning and achievement
Designs, analyzes, and improves the information technology curriculum
Develops both classroom and on-line courses
Advises students and student organizations, helps them in career development
Maintains quality of Technology Management curriculum at national level
Facilitates active programs of student-professional development
Promotes academic excellence and scholarship
Supports collaboration with key industries and executes programs with industry partners
Participates on college committees - enhances quality of the SPC environment
Works flexible hours with willingness to travel to surrounding counties/campuses/schools
Keeps abreast of technology developments in the area of interest
Mentor new adjunct/Full-Time Faculty
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate (strongly preferred) or PhD candidate that has an approved proposal and is expecting to complete the PhD within one year or Masters Degree; in Information Technology, Computer Science or allied field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in college/university teaching, (IT, computer, engineering, or/and manufacturing courses) for a minimum of two years. At least five years of practical experience in industry in the development, delivery, or manufacturing of products and services.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
A distinguished record of excellence in professional or teaching career. Demonstrated ability to work with Industry, faculty, staff and the community. Specific areas of interest include but not limited to: software development and associated processes, software design, network design and operation, database design and operation, security policy and procedures, quality policy and procedures, and e-commerce strategy and implementation. Strength and experience in On-Line course development and coordination. Managerial experience preferred. Strong written and oral communications skills.
