POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Instructor-in-Charge; Applied Ethics Program
DEPARTMENT:
Provost
SITE: College-wide
SALARY SCHEDULE: Faculty

BASIC FUNCTION:
Plans and directs the Applied Ethics
Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches a minimum of 1 course on an
annualized basis, as part of base or supplemental contract.
- Supervises the development,
preparation, and revisions of course materials for the Applied Ethics Program.
- Advises students in program
planning, course selection, and career guidance.
- Communicates with the
Provosts/Assistant Provosts and Applied Ethics faculty at each campus
regarding program policies, procedures, and personnel matters.
- Develops a college-wide schedule of
Applied Ethics classes.
- Controls equipment/materials
utilized within the Program.
- Handles grievances within the
Program as required.
- Assists in implementation of
in-service training programs for faculty.
- Provides assistance for students'
programs, inventory, and placement services.
- Serves as Director of the Applied
Ethics Institute, coordinating and supervising faculty work on behalf of the
Institute.
- Assists the Provost/Assistant
Provost regarding budget matters for the Applied Ethics program and the
Applied Ethics Institute.
- Oversees the College's Ethics
Applied textbook series, as well as the appointment of a Project Director for
any new textbooks and textbook revisions, serving as the College's liaison
with publishers and other relevant parties.
- Interacts with external industries,
businesses, and professional groups on behalf of the College, the Applied
Ethics Program, and the Applied Ethics Institute.
- Responsible for establishing
informal procedures as needed.
- Performs related duties as
required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in Ethics or master's
degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any of the following subject
areas:
Education
Marriage & Family Therapy
Ethics Social Work
Bioethics Accounting
Law Engineering
Law
Enforcement Public Administration
Mass
Communications Religion and Theology
Philosophy
Medical Sciences (including Nursing and Public Health)
Counseling Business (including Management
and Administration)
Journalism
Must
be able to be credentialed to teach Applied Ethics, including at least 6
graduate semester hours in Ethics, in time to each Applied Ethics during first
year of hire.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Full-time
teaching in the field of Applied Ethics at the higher education level preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of micro-computer
applications.
