Position Description

 

POSITION TITLE: Associate Professor/Professor- Communications

 

DEPARTMENT: College of Technology & Management       SITE: EpiCenter & Various

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: Instructional 12 Month GRADE: N/A

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

A faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching, and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the College in developing, enhancing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the College and continuing professional development.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·         Teaches undergraduate level courses in the Technology Management, International Business, Banking and other related programs.

·         Develops innovative methods, adopts interactive teaching/instructional methods and collaborative learning experience to deliver quality education.

·         Motivates students encourages learning and achievement

·         Designs, analyzes, and improves the program curriculum and achieves quality at the national level

·         Develops and enhances both classroom and on-line courses: devises appropriate program quality assessment strategies.

·         Provides counseling to students for curriculum support and career enhancement.

·         Maintains positive working relationships with faculty, staff and administration.

·         Mentors new adjunct/Full-Time Faculty.

·         Facilitates active programs of student-professional development.

·         Practices and promotes academic excellence and scholarship.

·         Supports collaboration with other schools, key industries and executes programs with industry partners.

·         Participates on college committees- enhances quality of the SPC environment

·         Works flexible hours with willingness to travel to surrounding counties/campuses/nationally and internationally.

·         Keeps abreast of developments in the area of interest: participates in related professional activities.

·         Supports the mission, vision and values of the College of Technology & Management.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Doctorate (strongly preferred) or PhD candidate that has an approved proposal and is expecting to complete his/her PhD within one year in Communication or allied field, or Master’s degree.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience in college/university teaching (Communications or allied field) for a minimum of two years. At least five years of practical experience in business or industry.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

A distinguished record of excellence in a professional or teaching career.   Demonstrated ability to work with Industry, faculty, staff and the community.  Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to: leadership, marketing and communications. Preference given to candidates with business experience and exposure in non-profit management, real estate, insurance, or entrepreneurship.  Strength and experience in On-Line course development and delivery. Strong written and oral communication skills; and managerial experience preferred.
