POSITION TITLE:
Information Services Librarian - Seminole Campus
DEPARTMENT:

BASIC FUNCTION:
Assure broad range of
library services in support of the college mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Foster academic excellence in teaching and learning.
-
Support the community college philosophy through commitment to success of
students with diverse goals, backgrounds and learning styles in all
curricular programs.
-
Instruct students in accordance with college policies, procedures and
approved curricula.
-
Expand professional abilities through scholarly and professional activities
that address emerging trends, resources, and technologies impacting
libraries and higher education.
-
Serve
the college through any of the following: (a) committee membership, (b)
curriculum development, (c) development of innovative instruction, (d)
sponsorship of student organizations, (e) representation of the college in
professionally related community activities, and (f) special projects.
-
Support college extracurricular functions.
-
Demonstrate
a professional, cooperative, and considerate attitude toward students,
colleagues, and staff.
-
Perform
related duties as
required.
Primary
responsibilities, 25-30 hours weekly
Reference,
Instruction, and Public Service Duties
-
Create a welcoming and comfortable study atmosphere in library.
-
Teach patrons to locate, retrieve, evaluate, analyze, use, and cite
information sources.
-
Provide reference assistance/point-of-need instruction utilizing a variety
of new and existing technologies, e.g. email, chat, etc.
-
Refer as appropriate for information not readily accessible in the library.
-
Provide interlibrary loan services.
-
Instruct patrons in use of library equipment/technology including computer
programs used for research, word processing and other applications.
-
Actively promote and participate in the library’s information literacy
program
-
Provide clear, accurate, and focused classroom instruction to students,
faculty and staff.
-
Prepare and deliver professional development workshops for faculty, staff,
and public users.
-
Develop and prepare teaching aids and tutorials for delivery in traditional,
online, and emerging formats.
-
Collaborate with faculty in the design and teaching of specialized research
sessions.
Secondary

Supervisory or
Support Duty
Oversee support staff in
particular departmental area(s) as assigned by Director of Libraries.

Train and evaluate staff.

Set and prioritize goals.

Evaluate policy.

Encourage employee development.

Foster cooperation among staff.

Coordinate budget and supplies.
-
Assist in recruitment, orientation, and evaluation of adjunct librarians.
Coordinate
services for a particular site, or college wide in areas such as:

Acquisitions.
-
Information literacy instruction.
-
Resource sharing.
-
Archives.
-
Periodicals.
-
Circulation.
Administrative
Duty
-
Serve as library liaison to one or more academic departments.
-
Actively participate in and collaborate with faculty on collection
evaluation and development.
-
Identify and develop new services and resources online and in physical
library.
-
Assist in planning and budgeting.
-
Troubleshoot and maintain library technology and equipment.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in
Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated success in providing reference and instructional services and
experience with faculty liaison work in an academic or joint-use library.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of current and emerging trends and technologies in academic
libraries.

Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, web development and
