POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Pre-Health/Health Education Tutor III

DEPARTMENT: Educational and Student Services  SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: OPS - GRADE: 7

BASIC FUNCTION:

Supervises and instructs students in a complex and specialized learning laboratory or other similar instructional location, under the supervision of a professional faculty member or other staff person.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Tutoring
• Test reviews
• Generating student handouts and study aids
• Running workshops
• Maintaining the student database
• Running the general study lab
• Opening and closing the New Initiative Learning Support Center
• Ordering and maintaining equipment
• Assists with paper composition and technical writing

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Masters degree or PhD.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

One (1) year experience teaching or tutoring students.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Competence in various subject areas assigned. Knowledge of the methods appropriate for instruction in the subject areas assigned. Knowledge of sentence structure and word usage. Skill in reading comprehension.  Communications skills. Ability to operate a computer. Ability to interact well with students and faculty. Ability to teach the subject area of assignment.
