POSITION TITLE:
Technology Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT:

BASIC FUNCTION:
Exercises high-level
technical skills to administer support and enhance the technical environment of
a program, delivery and management. (Server, Client Server Application, Student
FTP Web Development, Labs, Hardware, Software, Angel, Web Conferencing Client,
Multimedia, and Network Equipment)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Teams with Instructional Technologists in developing, implementing,
administering and training of on-line and distance learning platform.

Provides technical support to students and special projects including
capstone and team projects.

Adds technology enhancements (i.e., audio, video and animation) to online,
blended, and TeleWeb courses utilizing the most current software products.

Shows expertise in developing distance learning course material utilizing
Angel, web conferencing client, and provides day to day technical support
for adjunct/faculty

Designs and develops multimedia presentations for courses, meetings,
seminars and departmental meetings utilizing various multimedia software:
integrated into courses

Develops computer-based training, interactive CD-ROM productions, and
multimedia presentations to enhance classroom/online learning.

Provides high-level technical support, troubleshooting techniques, and
demonstrations for faculty and staff regarding hardware, software, and web
related difficulties to ensure proper resolution.

Consults with staff, researches and evaluates new technological innovations
that ease multimedia development and improve distance learning
effectiveness.

Provides first line support on all hardware/software/network issues that
arise for the College of Technology Management and related organizations

Serves as a liaison between students and staff in regards to MSDNaa with
Microsoft and software needs for Technology Management

Desktop Management: Software updates, patches, file transfer, system
backups/restores

Support high tech tools such as CTM or equivalent, Camtasia, Online
conferencing and application sharing

Anticipates and support the needs of international students.

Supports the mission, vision and values of the College of Technology &
Management

Maintains positive working relationships with faculty, staff and
administration

Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree or
equivalent in the area of data communications or related fields. Bachelor’s
Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) years computer
experience as related to information systems, data communications or related
field,
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Broad-based knowledge and
skill in industry standard software applications used in desktop, multimedia and
Internet-based development. Knowledge of creating desktop audio, video and/or
streaming media. Knowledge of HTML and capability of developing educational
materials with it. Ability to install and maintain a variety of computer
hardware and software. Interpersonal skills that include working well in a team
environment, patience, and tactful courtesy to faculty and staff learning
technology.
