POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE: Analyst/Programmer/Developer

DEPARTMENT: Information Services (functional area TBD)         SITE: EPI

SALARY SCHEDULE: Technical                                               GRADE: 4

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the IT leadership team and designated end user administrative staff, designs and develops new or enhanced enterprise systems applications that enhance end user productivity and support the computing needs of the assigned area of the college.  In collaboration with the Enterprise Systems Manager, provides technical leadership in the development of technology solutions for one or more business areas of the college.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs problem analysis, maintenance and support of technology solutions
  • Provides input into the business practices of functional units as required.
  • Coordinates and provides training to employees on the use of technology and software systems.
  • Provides user support for PeopleSoft enterprise system software.
  • Supervises and coordinates tasks of programming and systems personnel, as necessary, to provide technology solutions.
  • Coordinates communications with Enterprise Systems Manager and administrative information systems, as necessary, to support all technology solutions.
  • Develops procedures and coordinates efforts to facilitate data collection and retrieval through efficient utilization of technology solutions.
  • Interacts with the help desk to document and resolve technical problems expediently.
  • Understands SPC business and applies it to the technical tasks.
  • Designs computer applications, to include the development of specifications for using any or all of the technology tools available at the college.
  • Writes computer programs and applications according to specifications, employing the use of programming languages and/or software packages available at the college.
  • Documents these programs to enable departmental staff to continue computer support to the related systems.
  • Engages in the appropriate testing of computer system applications.
  • Participates in the development of user and operational documentation.
  • Engages in the continual maintenance and support of production systems.
  • Works as necessary in the maintenance of system software.
  • Performs related duties as required.

 

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of three (3) years experience working as Business Analyst or Programmer with programming experience, to include functional modules of PeopleSoft in the finance, HR/payroll or student administration systems.  

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge in one or more of the functional areas of HR/Payroll, Finance and Accounting and Student Services Administration and/or Financial Aid.  Skill in oral and written communication.  Ability to effectively communicate with users and the Information Technology staff to resolve technical problems.  Ability to work independently to resolve and maintain all aspects of technical support.  Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet needs of diverse student and employee populations.  Ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail is required.  Ability to plan and organize.  Ability to document.  Ability to reason logically.  Ability to adjust to change and be innovative.
