POSITION TITLE: Access Control Technician

SALARY SCHEDULE: Facilities/Skilled Trades  Level: 3

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs installation, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of both electronic and mechanical locks and door hardware. Uses independent judgment in evaluation of the lock systems for both repair and direction on future systems for the College.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs Preventative Maintenance, such as, inspection, cleaning, servicing, lubricating, and repair of both locks and hardware as stated in manuals.
• Performs activities by using the automated work order system to track all requests for maintenance repair and Preventative Maintenance for the system.
• Orders and issues keys as required by authorized college personnel. Encodes and issues key cards, modifies existing doors and hardware to adapt to new requirements of the keying system.
• Reviews construction plans to ensure compliance with the existing system and for any future upgrades to the system.
• Maintains college-wide lock and key policy to ensure the safety and security of both students and college employees,
• Provides timely feedback both orally or written to the District Office concerning college-wide locks and security of the buildings pertaining to the current system.
• Maintains the lock shop and all the equipment needed to perform the tasks including the lock cylinders, combinations, codes and key records.
• May supervise others.
• Performs related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) experience in the locksmith trades with Registration as a Locksmith or the ability become a Registered Locksmith within 6 months.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of computer systems to use the computer tracking system for the college-wide key system and the software controlling the key-card access system. Knowledge of the building trades. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment. General knowledge of electricity. Knowledge of the equipment and tools used by locksmith and a variety of trades work. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination. CDL Class "D" Florida Driver’s License. Must comply with all College policies and procedures. Requires basic computer skills. Supervisory skills.
