POSITION TITLE: Coordinator, Institutional Services

DEPARTMENT: Institutional Services                 SITE: College-wide

SALARY SCHEDULE: Facilities/Skilled Trades    LEVEL: 5

BASIC FUNCTION:

Coordinates with college project co-coordinators, building officials, interior design staff and outside small contract vendors on various projects.  Supervises and manages institutional services consisting of in-house construction, structured cabling and moving services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads, plans, and organizes the operation of college institutional services.
• Assists Director of Facilities Planning & Institutional Services in staffing recommendations and performance evaluations.
• Identifies and provides for institutional staff training.
• Keeps Director of Facilities Planning & Institutional Services advised of important institutional services issues.
• Coordinates institutional functions to work in unison with other Facilities Planning and college departments.
• Responsible for ensuring that work is being performed in accordance with College standards and specification as well as the Florida Building Code.
• Actively promotes teamwork.
• Responsible for effective utilization of institutional services budgets.
• Oversees In-House construction operations.
• Oversees college-wide structured cabling.
• Oversees moving services operations.
• Manages office staff.
• Develops effective mid- and long-term work plans.
• Develops cost estimates and prepares reports as required.
• Oversees planning of in-house construction and renovation projects.
• Assures acceptable customer service standards are maintained by institutional services team.
• Handles requisitioning of construction and structured cabling supplies and materials.
• Maintains inventory of construction and structured cabling supplies and materials.
• Performs related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Must possess CDL Class "D" Florida Driver’s License. Must qualify for certification in respiratory protection.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Eight (8) years of supervisory and general building construction trades experience in commercial or institutional facilities services.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of construction trades practices and methods. Knowledge of construction tools and equipment. Knowledge of building codes. Knowledge of safety precautions required in the building trades fields. Skill in interpreting blueprints and drawings. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to lift heavy equipment. Knowledge of sentence structure and word usage. Skill in reading comprehension. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination. Supervisory skills. Ability to effectively utilize labor and material resources.
