BASIC FUNCTION:
Identify and understand the
long-term and short-term maintenance and repair tasks necessary to keep all
campus physical plant assets in good working order, promoting longevity and
efficiency. Maintain knowledge of up-to-date maintenance and repair methods by
continually utilizing technical research tools and training, as an adjunct to
prior experience and training. Utilize campus Facilities staff to accomplish
maintenance goals by providing professional supervision, leadership and
customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Supervises and participates in the
work of maintaining the college facilities.
v Coordinates the work flow to ensure
schedules and productivity are achieved.
v Prepares preliminary budget and
tracks spending for Facilities Services.
v Recommends hiring, training, for
those under immediate supervision.
v Performs evaluations and
disciplinary action on employee performance.
v Studies work flow and recommends
procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
v Establishes work schedules and
assigns employees to tasks.
v Maintains records for both personnel
and equipment assigned.
v Plans, schedules and performs
follow-up work assignments for trades workers.
v Provides assistance in work
planning, technical problem resolution, work scheduling, cost analysis, and
material requirements.
v Trains and directs personnel in
various trades skills.
v Coordinates, Interacts and Attends
all meetings involving Facilities, keeping the provost informed of issues
concerning the campus or site.
v Performs maintenance and repair of
the heating, ventilation / air conditioning, building controls, plumbing and
electrical systems as required.
v Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an
accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. The successful
completion of two (2) years of verifiable formal training in any one of the
Construction Trades. Vocational, Military, or Indentured Apprentice may be
substituted for the experience requirement. College level courses in
Supervision and Management preferred. Class "D" Driver's License
(CDL). Must be EPA certified to handle refrigerants (Universal).
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Fifteen (15) years
experience in the building trades, or Ten (10) years experience in the building
trades and a verifiable journeymen Credential in one of the construction
trades, or Five years experience in the building trades and a Florida State or
County Contractors License in one of the Construction trades. Experience in
HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Five (5) years Supervisory experience in the
Construction / Building Management Industry.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Construction knowledge in
the air conditioning/heating, plumbing and electrical trades. Knowledge of
various controls and commercial / industrial building maintenance. Ability to
climb ladders and lift heavy objects. Skill in reading comprehension and basic
mathematics. Supervisory skills to include working with and dealing with
personnel Issues.
