POSITION TITLE: Structured Cabling Technician

BASIC FUNCTION:
Installs, repairs, maintains college-wide structured cabling systems in accordance with college specifications and standards as well as the Florida Building Code.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience on the service and repair of telecommunications equipment and installation.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform diagnostic trouble shooting and analysis. Ability to operate a computer. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post-qualification physical examination. BICSI Certified Level 1 or greater – preferred. Knowledge of terminating structured cabling systems according to the TIA/EIA 568 &569 standards. Knowledge of building codes. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment. Knowledge of the equipment and tools used in structured cabling. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Must possess a CDL class "D" Florida Driver’s license. Skill in reading comprehension.
