SPC Clearwater Campus is piloting a new “fast track” for English for Academic Purposes courses. These accelerated courses are for full-time, highly motivated students who want to invest more time in their language studies and complete them in half the time.
Fall 2008 Courses
The following courses, traditionally completed in 16 weeks, will finish in eight weeks allowing students to complete another accelerated EAP or a mod-mester course in general education:
- EAP 0400 - Intermediate Listening and Speaking
- EAP 1500 - Advanced Listening and Speaking
Spring 2009 Courses
The second phase of the pilot program will offer the following 9-credit courses in reading, writing and grammar:
- EAP1595 - Advanced English for Academic Purposes I
- EAP1695 - Advanced English for Academic Purposes II
As these are 9-credit courses, the tentative schedule would be four days per week (Monday-Thursday) from 8 a.m. to noon with a 15-minute break.
If the program is successful, SPC will gradually add more EAP courses to the fast track model, providing students an accelerated path toward their academic goals.
