WEIGHTS
In the United States, the Imperial system of measurement is used.
Weight is measured in ounces and pounds. Sixteen ounces equal one pound. The abbreviations for ounce and pound, however, may seem unusual. For ounce, the abbreviation is oz. For pound, the abbreviation is lb.
Liquid is measured in ounces (different from the weight ounces), cups, pints, quarts and gallons. Eight ounces equal one cup; two cups equal a pint; two pints equal a quart; and four quarts equal a gallon. Here is a conversion table to help make things a little easier.
