The Belize Tropical Ecology program will introduce students to the environment of the rainforest and Central America through lectures, labs and discovery-oriented investigative experiences.
"My words are endless for the wonderful experience I had studying abroad in Belize. For one, it is not hard to believe that studying in the true environment of mother nature beats sitting in a classroom. I learned more about ecology through cave tubing, hiking, canoeing, spelunking, and talking to the locals." - Maggie
Topics will include the ecology of Belize, rainforests and coral reefs as well as the identification of vertebrates, invertebrates and tropical plants.
This 11-day program invites you to explore the diverse terrain of this tropical paradise, the Belize Barrier Reef, and investigate impressive Mayan ruins. You will see Tikal and Caracol, as well as several smaller ruins right in our lodging area. You will be hiking forest trails and exploring species-rich habitats to learn about one of the most threatened systems on the planet. View our image gallery and trip itinerary.
This program offers a sampling of natural history, culture, and adventure as you explore the best of the Belize diverse destinations.
PROGRAM COST ESTIMATES
In order to help you keep your costs down, students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to Belize.
For planning purposes, we have provided a detailed cost estimate summary that includes a rough estimate of what you can expect to pay for your travel. You may find that you are able to secure flight arrangements for a significantly lower cost than what is noted on the form. The cost estimate summary also can be used to calculate other program costs (tuition, etc). Please let us know if you have any questions.
