Staff Central is your one-stop destination for St. Petersburg College employees. The site includes administrative and human resources information as well as the passwords for the Library Online databases.

These include:

            NetLibrary/E-books

            Electronic Journal Subscriptions (EJS)

            Academic.com

Email 1: Online Library Catalog (OPAC)

LINCCweb is used to locate books, periodical titles, audiovisual materials and electronic resources. It can be accessed in one of two ways:

1.       From the Library Online home page choose Top Picks # 3 from left frame of page

2.       Use direct link to catalog

Use the drop arrow to select an individual SPC campus library, all SPC libraries as well as all Florida community college libraries. The following strategies will be helpful to successful searching:

v      Keywords anywhere will give you the broadest results

v      Title keyword will give results of words within the title

v      Author keyword is better searched by           last name, first name

v      Subject keywords use Library of Congress phraseology (e.g. the subject of               “organ transplants” is called           “transplantation of organs”)

The results of your search will be displayed by copyright date (newest first). Click on any title to see its complete record and call number location on the shelf. You may intra/interlibrary loan books from another SPC campus or community college library. Click the Availability link next to the campus you wish to have it transferred from and click request.

The request is completed by filling in your Social Security number in the Borrower ID field; the PIN is the last four digits of your Social Security number. Then use the drop arrow to highlight St. Petersburg College. Follow instructions to request. SPC loans will take a few days, other community college loans up to a week. If you wish to request outside the community college system contact your local campus library from the phone numbers at the end of this email. Requests for these materials usually takes at least two weeks.

Email 1: E-books (Net Library)

Net Library is used to locate e-books resources and it can be accessed in one of two ways:

1.       From the Library Online home page choose Top Picks # 7 and click on Net Library from left frame of page. Use Staff Central to access the name and password for Library Online E-books.

2.       From the Library Online home page choose Top Picks # 1 and click on Articles from left frame of page. Use Staff Central to access the name and password for Library Online Article Databases (link to Net Library is at the top center of page). You may also link to any listed database as well.

v      Search by keyword, title, author, or full text

v      Choose from results, click on Show Details

v      Choose View this E-book

v      Navigate through book in Contents tab in left frame

E-books may be viewed for a limited time (~20 minutes). You may also print or copy/paste brief excerpts (keep in mind academic use copyright restrictions). To check book out “virtually: (about 4 hours) you need to Create a Free Account (top right corner of page).
