      • At Login screen: Name: is NOT your name/student number, but library designated name and password
      • Make sure you are typing in all lower-case passwords
      • Type in only the passwords - no spaces (Do not hit spacebar after entering)

Access Problems
Lexis Nexis Academic Access Problems:
  •  For access problems, use refresh button to reload page or try again.
  • Make sure you are using your SPC student ID & Password (see below for access)

  • Student Passwords:
    • Use your official SPC student ID and password
  •  Faculty Passwords
    • Use your official SPC network username & password

Occasional access problems - with Groves Online Art/ Music, Netlibrary and other databases?  You may need to reset you computer to accept cookies and/or lower your firewall security settings or browser settings:

  • Cookies.  Is your browser configured to accept cookies? Most databases use cookies to allow continued access during one session. If your browser is not configured to accept cookies, you will be bounced back to the username/password page. To configure your browser to accept cookies:

    • In Internet Explorer: Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > check "always accept cookies"
    • In Netscape: Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced > check "accept all cookies"
  • Norton Utility. You may have to turn off or lower Norton firewall during your access to databases.
  • New minimum browser requirements: Netscape 7.x, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Macintosh minimum requirements: Safari 1.2x or Netscape 7.x.  http://support.epnet.com.
  • If nothing else works, some students have said that turning off their firewall allowed them to access databases.
Database Problems & Answers

  • Many new computers come bundled with Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) pre-installed. Norton blocks referring web pages from the library databases, which you need to use databases.  See below to lower firewall and allow databases products to be accessed.

    You may need to change you Browser Security/Privacy settings while accessing database:

    • Go To Tools
    • Select Internet Options
    • Select Privacy tab
    • Change scroll bar to Low

    OR try:

    • Under Tools in Your browser window, select Internet Options and
    • Delete cookies
    • Delete temporary internet files
    • Delete history (don't forget to click OK after deleting cookies, temp files, and history.)
    • disable your pop-up blocker for the NetLibrary site
    • Configure your firewall to permit www.netlibrary.com

    Still get a Second set of passwords??   If you get into search and browse the collection--you have correctly been authenticated.  However for anything other than searching & browsing--you must create a separate of your own account passwords! Call library to ask for help setting up an account.


  • Wilsonweb will not work with AOL.  Try downloading Netscape, minimizing AOL and accessing via Netscape. For other problems, try cleaning out cache of your Internet browser.  Librarians - if students get another set of password prompts after going successfully though Login page, try Staff Central Password page for alternate.
     
  • Biography & Literature Resource Center printing directions:

    • Pull up article in either Biography or Literature Resource Center
    • Use left side bar print icon to start printing
    • After Article reappears, from your Explorer or Netscape browser, pull down

    • File and select Print
  • EBSCO - AOL & Netscape cookies  |  American Online 6.0 & up

  • Netlibrary Help

  • Netlibrary is getting reports from some user's that they are being kicked back to the login screen or their session is prematurely timing out.
    • Netlibrary recommends clearing web browser cache, cookies, and history. .

Library Borrower ID changes.

When using LINCCweb, Interlibrary loans or accessing databases via CCLA,  Borrower IDs have changed  from your S.S. card numbers to Student ID and Faculty/Staff Employee numbers.  See below:

  • Students
    • Borrower ID: Your Student ID number
    • PIN: the last 4 digits of your social security number.
  • Faculty
    • Borrower ID: your employee Number (see pay stub)
    • PIN: last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
